Another consideration is quality. Quality is a key consideration for any piece of furniture that I build. Only a few years ago, a piece of American made furniture could be expected to last several generations. Today, much of the furniture available is mass produced and constructed from lower quality materials. A piece of poorly constructed furniture may only last a few years. However, you can be assured that the furniture I design and build will last for generations.
Unique furniture crafted in my workshop is designed to be functional while exhibiting a pleasing form. The pieces demonstrate the natural transition between functional furniture and art. After the design of the piece has been completed the process starts with rough pieces of lumber. The exotic and domestic lumber is first planned to check for appropriate grain and color with no defects. The natural colors of the wood minimize the need for dyes or stains. The construction techniques are time tested techniques, such as, mortise and tenon and dovetail joints which are quickly disappearing from commercially produced furniture.
A hand-rubbed finish using shellacs and varnishes avoids the ‘plastic’ appearance that can result from spray finishes.
Prices and Delivery - After the design process is completed a price is agreed to. A 50% deposit is required at the start of the process and the final 50% at delivery. There is no charge for delivery within the Western New York region. Shipping charges outside of Western New York are determined at the completion of the project
