MAPLE OCTAGON GAMING TABLE    CONSTRUCTION PROCESS

The wood is first selected. Each piece is 6”-8” wide, 2” thick and 10’ in length

The maple is first surfaced planed to obtain a flat reference side








After surface planing the maple is thickness planed to the desired thickness









The pieces that will make up the top are selected for color and grain







And glued together to form the table top

















The octagon shape is transferred to the table top using masking tape and cut to size




The legs and supports are constructed in a similar manner



A shelf is installed under he table top to store gaming boards and supplies.


Finally, the table is sanded to 320 grit sandpaper and finished with 8 hand rubbed coats of a poly varnish
